Reading & Writing with ELs Trainings
All training opportunities can be tailored to meet campus/district needs.
Drawing from Valentina Gonzalez and Melinda Miller’s book, Reading & Writing with English Learners, this professional learning is designed to offer educators user-friendly strategies for supporting English learners in literacy classrooms and aims to support teachers to work more effectively with ELs in reading and writing classrooms. We explore high-yield teaching methods that support and scaffold reading and writing with English learners. Participants will also observe and participate in sample activities that leverage assets that ELs bring into classrooms.
Session Objectives:
Learn instructional techniques that support English learners
Explore strategies that promote academic language for all students
Incorporate listening, speaking, reading, and writing into all content areas
Learn practical ways to integrate language and content literacy
